Reviews
Stayed here for one night - the next day we went to USJ.
Pros:
•very convenient
•close to the train station/USJ
•affordable
•the staff were very kind and easy to talk to
•Options for private rooms (no private bathroom)
Cons:
•Odor!! As soon as we entered the hostel it smelled like a college dormitory (stuffy and body odor...) The smell was quite strong throughout the entire hostel. This was the biggest con.
•Cleanliness. The rooms looked a bit beaten up and there were stains on the tatami. The stairs didn't look like they had been cleaned too recently.
•Tight shower space. I'm quite petite but even for me it was a bit difficult to move around. Some Japanese hostels are like this, others aren't. I guess it really depends on the establishment.
•Noise! Even though the hostel rules say no loud noises/conversations past 10:00, there were guests who were speaking very loudly and we couldn't get much sleep... :(
If you're looking for a quick place to stay and on a budget on your way to USJ, this may suit you. If/when we go back to USJ though, I'll most likely be shelling out a little more to stay at a hotel...
This place exceeded all our expectations! At first, we were just happy to have a place to spend the night so close to Universal Studios Japan without breaking the bank. But once we got there, it was clear that there was so much more than …
Very detailed and thorough with the informations. Everything is exactly as per pictures stated and communicated👍👍
A very good choice to stay for us as a family who plan to go for 1 day USJ visit. Very accessible and the extra services provided (luggage storage & coin laundry) are super plus point.
It’s a hostel style stay, so other guests do play a part for the overall experience. Thankfully the other guests during our stay were mostly considerate. So we did have a pleasant stay👍
Will definitely recommend!
Nice and clean, individual rooms (we had 4 people so we had a private room). Shared riolets and showers, but there's plenty of them. So you don't have to wait. Staff is really nice and if you need a place for a night, I would definitely recommend. Beds are comfortable as well.
I had a very happy stay. The place is like a family apartment, and a bit like a university hall. People from all over the world gather together and greet each other. The person in charge is also very gentle and patiently answers various …
Alright, let me get the good stuff out of the way. Cheap. Friendly staff. Quaint, cute place. Bike rental. Washing machines and dryers. A short walk or even shorter train ride to USJ.
But my stay was married by heat. Yes there is an air conditioner in the room but it does not reach the "capsule" part you sleep in. During October this is a killer. Like sleeping in, well, more a steam room than a sauna because of how humid Osaka is.
The rest of the place also seems to have AC that's never on so you get back from a hot day and it's even hotter inside. If you can't handle the heat I can't recommend the place.
Also, aside from getting to USJ, it's a hassle to get anywhere else. So if you're going to USJ twice, stay two nights. Etc. No more than needed or it's minimum two trains to anywhere ever.
But yeah the lack of AC is the killer for me. Bad enough outside but to come back to what should be an oasis in the desert only to suffer more really wiped me out daily.
Since I had to visit USJ for two days in a row, I booked this youth hostel which is about 20 minutes’ walk away so that I could enter the park early the next day. I arrived late but the staff were very welcoming and the bunks and bathrooms were very clean. It’s worth choosing.
Stayed at J hoppers specifically for Universal Japan. This was a great hostel for that purpose, and great overall.
There were various amenities such as a free use for a bike to the store or the Onsen. The most useful was the free lockers after check out for universal. The staff were helpful and the process was easy and clear. The location is great, near the local JR station and about a 12 minute walk to universal studios Japan. The bed space was big for a hostel with an outlet+free Wi-Fi. The common areas were clean and had shampoo and body wash. If you're looking for a cost effective place to stay in this area I recommend J-Hoppers
